Sceptile
OVERVIEW
Pokédex #254: The Forest Pokémon, Sceptile, joins the fray! Adding some much needed representation from the Hoenn region, this Pokémon slices through the competition with its swift movements and tree-cutting blades! Built from the ground up over the course of several years, this character mod aims to fit Sceptile seamlessly into Project+Ex. This page will go over the basics of Sceptile's moveset, with alternate pages if visitors wish to learn more about Sceptile in-depth.
LEECH SEED
Sceptile's Down Special is a truly standout move, in which it either plants a seed if grounded, or tosses it downward when airborne. It can even stick a seed to a wall or player if it's close enough. When buried into the stage or stuck to an opponent, the seed will sprout after a roughly a second. A seed will stay in-place after sprouting, emitting an orb on-hit. These orbs will travel towards Sceptile, healing it on contact. If a seed is stuck to an opponent, he or she can wiggle the Control Stick to shake it off (think of the Lip's Stick flower). Additionally, a seed can be destroyed by enemy attacks before it sprouts.
BEWILDERING SPEED
While not the fastest character in the game, Sceptile is no slouch when it comes to its speed, both on the ground and in the air. It also sports relatively swift moves to maximize its combo potential. You can utilize moves such as Dash Attack, Forward Air, Down Air, Side Special, and Up Special to keep up the pressure. If Sceptile needs even more speed, the grounded variant of its Side Special can be cancelled into an enhanced run, which boasts a 50% increase to its run speed until it stops, just enough to grant it the second fastest run speed across the entire cast!
CUT EM' DOWN TO SIZE
Those blades on Sceptile's wrists aren't just for show. Not only are they sharp enough to slice through trees, they can also extend to cover deceptive distances, giving Sceptile some of the longest disjoints in the game, comparable to various sword wielders. Generally, Sceptile's blades have consistent damage, however, certain moves are stronger at the tip of the blades, namely Side Smash and Forward Air.
